Problems
Local Content Discovery
Users had difficulty finding local movies because they were not clearly highlighted.Navigation Complexity
Switching between Live, Movies, and Series felt confusing for some users.Slow Internet Experience
Buffering and long loading times caused frustration for users with limited bandwidth.Live vs On-Demand Confusion
Users could not easily tell live streams apart from recorded content.Language & Localization
English-only UI reduced usability for local users.Home Screen Clutter
Too many sections made the home screen feel overwhelming.Search & Filtering Limits
Users had trouble finding specific local titles.First-Time User Onboarding
New users didn’t immediately understand all app features.
My Solution is...
Highlighted Local Content
Created dedicated sections and badges to promote local movies.Simplified Navigation
Redesigned bottom navigation to clearly separate Live, Movies, and Series.Optimized for Slow Internet
Added loading indicators, adaptive streaming quality, and retry feedback.Clear Live vs On-Demand Labels
Used “Live” badges and visual indicators for live content.Multilingual Interface
Implemented Burmese and English language support.Cleaner Home Screen
Reduced sections and prioritized key content for better visual hierarchy.Improved Search & Filters
Added genre, year, and local-only filters.Lightweight Onboarding
Introduced simple intro screens and tooltips for first-time users.
Challenges I needed to face...
Balancing Promotion vs Simplicity
Highlighting local content without making the home screen feel cluttered.Designing for Low Bandwidth
Creating a good experience while dealing with buffering, slow loads, and limited data.Clear Communication for Live Content
Explaining live limitations (no rewind, schedule-based) without confusing users.Multilingual Layout Constraints
Adapting UI for Burmese and English text length and font rendering issues.Limited User Research Access
Making design decisions with a small number of test users.Platform Consistency
Maintaining consistent UX across different screen sizes and devices.Prioritization Under Time Constraints
Choosing which features to improve first with limited development time.Technical Limitations
Working within streaming and backend constraints that affected UI behavior.
Summary :
iStream Media was designed to make local movies and live content easier to discover and enjoy. The project focused on simplifying navigation, improving performance for low-bandwidth users, and clearly separating live and on-demand content.
Through iterative design and user feedback, the experience was improved with better content prioritization, multilingual support, and a cleaner home screen. Despite technical and time constraints, the final solution delivered a more intuitive and accessible streaming experience for local audiences.
